10+ Things to Borrow From Concord Area Libraries, Other Than Books

National Library Week is April 23-29!

By Sarah Cates, Publisher of Macaroni Kid Concord March 27, 2024

It's National Library Week April 7 to 13, and we thought we'd take the opportunity to highlight some of the more unique items the Concord area libraries have available to check out ... other than books!

At libraries in the capitol region, you can find for loan:

Museum Passes

Concord area libraries offer free and discounted passes to museums all over NH and MA. Reservations may still be required by the museum. Click your library link below for details:

Telescope

The NH Astronomical Society has been instrumental in providing telescopes for families to borrow straight from their local library.

Activity Bags

If your kids are saying, "I'm bored" or you have a long drive, your library can probably help with more than just books! You can check out activity packs/bags to keep your children entertained (and learning!) for longer.

STEM Kits

Whether your children are interested in dinosaurs, electronics, coding, magnets, or building things, libraries in the Concord area have all kinds of kits to help children explore the world of STEM!

Technology

Seeds

Actually, there is no need to just borrow seeds. Pick them up from your local library, plant them, and reap the benefits of fresh produce or flowers! These are available seasonally.

3D Printing

You actually can't take it home, BUT some local libraries have 3D Printers that they let families "borrow"! Cardholders must put in a request and be sure to read the specifics about using it.

Sewing Machine, Microscope, Cricut Maker, and TONS MORE!

The library, of course, also has plenty more to discover, from books to DVDs to regular events like story times and STEM events. You can always find tons of library events on our Macaroni KID Concord calendar!

Stop by your library during National Library Week and explore! What interesting thing can you find to take home?
